New Social Networking Offerings from Google

If you’re on gmail, you’ve probably already received invites to be in somebody’s ‘circles’. Now, Google has also come up with Google+ which, from what I understand, is a better version of facebook,  perhaps even twitter? In facebook whatever you announce, you announce to the whole world. In circles, you can control who you direct information to. Its early days yet (only a month since Google+’s launch). We’ll have to wait and watch to see where it goes.

One of the ‘stickiness’ factors about Facebook (at least for me) is the fact that there are so many updates / notifications from publications, newspapers, websites, music groups, celebrities etc. that are delivered every day on your FB page. Until such time that all of that gets started getting published on Circles, chances are that I will continue to be on Facebook. Friends are, I believe, just a part of the overall Facebook experience.

I don’t disagree, but sometimes there is too much information. Kind of hard to keep track off. I might have a writers’ circle and a family circle and a ex-classmates circle. I wouldn’t want to share everything with everyone. If Google does this right, I’d give it a chance.
