Writing An Entire Novel In A Month on Speed

October 10, 2011 6 comments

Well, not quite speed in the weed sense, but you certainly need to write fast.

If you sign up the wacky (but wonderful) NaNoWriMo (aka National Novel Writing Month), you must commit (to yourself) to writing 50,000 words in a month. Can be gibberish. No one’s looking. But you gotta write those 1667 words a day, more if you’re able. And you get a certificate at the end of the month.

I’ve done it thrice (skipped a couple), can’t recommend it highly enough. If you’ve always wanted to write a novel, but always have a ton of excuses, now’s your chance. The madness starts on the first of November. The high at the end of the month is incredible. You’ll figure if you can write 50,000 words in a month, you can write a novel. That’s how I got started, btw.

Sign up now, find fellow NaNoWriMoers in your neighborhood and get going.
