October 7, 2011 Leave a comment

If you can, there’s a contest in it for you. The only rules – the story should be encapsulated in 60 words or less (also called a logline). Chuck Sambuchino (of the Guide to Literary Agents) and Literary Agent Rachelle Gardner are getting together to give you the opportunity to do your worst.

Contest for Women’s/Upmarket Fiction

Chuck Sambuchino of The Guide to Literary Agents is running the “Dear Lucky Agent” contest for writers of Women’s or Upmarket fiction.

So what is Upmarket fiction genre,  you ask. (my favorite topic! 🙂 )

This from the agent judge Weronika – Upmarket fiction is “any high-quality fiction that is written for women and/or written for book clubs and/or is women-centric; may be general women’s fiction (Jodi Picoult or Nicholas Sparks), women-focused suspense (Laura Lippman), etc. This does exclude any category romances and romantic suspense.
